Alkarim Devani

Alkarim Devani is the CEO and Co-Founder of mddl, a North American city building company specializing in middle housing delivery. Prior to mddl, he co-founded RNDSQR, where he successfully delivered over 300 middle housing units across Canadian cities. Over the past decade he has worked across more than a dozen Canadian and American cities, including active work in Kalamazoo, Calgary, Kelowna, and Edmonton, helping municipalities turn zoning reform into built homes. He recently launched mddlU, the first university-certified middle housing education program in Canada, and piloted the curriculum at UCLA through a block week intensive, with full program plans launching in 2026. Alkarim is a doctoral candidate at the University of Calgary, defending his thesis this June on how to scale middle housing delivery across North America.
